Lot of people ask this question. What’s the data source behind FurlanGo? Where do you get these events from? – Answer is Yahoo Upcoming. We do pre-process data before its presented to you. However, we believe that FurlanGo is nice new way to search and discover events in your area. We hope you like our map based UI compared with typical list based UI.

We launched our second major release last week, and we are getting a lot of great positive response. In the meantime, we also got some media attention, our special thanks to Killer Start ups, and Google maps mania. Thanks for all the coverage to FurlanGo.

This week we are launching another major feature – Search. Until today, you get what was shown. Sure, you could filter results by category of event and date, but finding a specific event was not possible – Now you can.

Search box allows you to search for any events of your interest. Search will automatically find events happening around you. We think context is important when it comes to search. Good news is, search on FurlanGo is smart, thanks to Yahoo API. – eg. if you search for ‘Salsa’ and you might also find events for ‘tango’. We think this makes  finding and browsing events around you a whole lot easier. We have to thank yahoo for this smartness though

Check out – all new Furlango 2.0 Beta. Its live now. This launch is a major step forward in making experience of finding interesting things and events easier. We started  FurlanGo, because finding events and activities around you is surprisingly hard. We asked lot of people how do they get to know about local events and activities, and there was no one obvious answer. Most sites don’t list most popular events, and the overall experience of finding those events is too obtrusive. Most people we talked to hated going through those long lists. FurlanGo aims to solve both these problems. And although, we are not yet done with developing, today’s launch is major step forward in building this experience. Now its easier to find and share events. You can now tweet/ buzz or share events on Facebook. Also, along with events, Furlango is now can also be used to find movies playing near you. Overall experience of searching and finding events is now much easier.
